The Directors of T. Brewer & Co Ltd (The Company) recognise that The Company has a responsibility to the environment, customers, suppliers and staff to base its commercial activities on well managed and sustainable forests.
The Company is committed to purchasing all timber from legal sources and seeks evidence of compliance from suppliers that they are operating in accordance with the laws of their country. As a signatory to the Timber Trade Federation's (TTF) Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) The Company assess suppliers for evidence of sustainable forest management. The UK Government has recognised the RPP as an excellent example of industry good practice in assisting to source legal and sustainable timber.
The Company has implemented Chain of Custody (CoC) procedures to ensure materials sourced from independently certified forests meet the Government and CPET (Central Point of Expertise on Timber) policy and guidelines on sustainable forest management practices.
It is the policy of The Company to ensure compliance with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) CoC Standards through a system of robust auditing (internal and external), Management reviews, staff training and regular vetting of The Company's approved CoC supplier database. Management shall be responsible for the implementation and daily maintenance of this policy in accordance with the certification body requirements.
