Isosonic System

The requirements for Part E Building Regulations Resistance to Passage of Sound means that sound proofing a new build project conversion or refurbishment requires radical solutions to the issue of unwanted noise transmission.
For the first time pre-completion testing (at the Building Inspectors discretion) is being enforced to ensure that buildings meet the Part E Standards. Solutions are offered in the form of the Isosonic product range.
Combinations of the ISORUBBER resilient layer, ISOSONIC CEILING HANGERS and ISOEDGE flanking strip can be applied to most of the commonly employed timber and concrete floors.
Its benefits are:
-Staying within the size, weight and cost boundaries of normal previously employed floor constructions.
-Using simple to install and robust components to eliminate potential errors as much as possible.
-Achieving tested sound insulation performance levels well in excess of the requirements provides an adequate safety margin against the vagaries of workmanship and site supervision.

The main Isosonic floor systems are:

Isosonic Timber Floor - for use with solid timber joists or I-beams suitable for the REFURBISHMENT and TIMBERFRAME industry. The Isosonic Base or top resilient layer forms a direct base for the decorative wood floor or ceramic tile finish. A double plasterboard (30mm) ceiling is fixed to the joists by means of the Isosonic Ceiling Hanger. Isosonic Timber Floor

Isosonic Top Floor - for use with all forms of concrete floors with a weight in excess of 365kg/m (eg 155 solid). The Isorubber Top fixed resilient surface layer is suitable for allforms of hard and soft floor coverings. A ceiling consisting of minimum 12.5mm plasterboard fitted to the floor by means of Isosonic Ceiling Hangers or MF grid. Isosonic Top Floor

Isosonic Base Floor Candidate RSD systems -for use with screeded pre-cast plank (150mm plus) floors. The Isorubber Base under-screed resilient layer provided the traditional screeded finish.
The ceiling is again a minimum 12.5mm plasterboard fitted by means of Isosonic ceiling hangers or MF grid. Isosonic Base Floor

All the above systems have undergone numerous independent tests.
